WTF
I am so sick and tired of reading ads or hearing about people who have to get rid of their dogs. This is absolutely unacceptable. In the past week I have read/heard about nearly a dozen people are trying to pawn these poor, beautiful and defenseless animals off on somebody else because they are too lazy they can’t take care of them anymore…
Among the excuses I hear the most: we just had a baby, we are moving, dog food is too expensive, vet bills are too much, got a new job… blah blah blah.
I’m a dog lover so I know my thinking is a little different than others, however, you can go to Sam’s Club and buy a 55 pound bag of PurinaOne for $22. Or how about now that you have a new baby, when you’re out taking your kid for a walk in the stroller, you just double up and take Spot for a walk too? You are moving? How about you look for places that allow pets? Vet bills too high? Should have thought about that when you were making the decision to get the really cute puppy… Got a new job?!! Great!! Exactly why does that mean you can’t have your dog anymore?
Point is, people need to think about these things BEFORE they get a pet. You wouldn’t just pawn a child off because you have a new baby and just can’t devote the attention to the other kid that he/she deserves… you make it work. If you can’t give a pet the attention and care that it needs, you shouldn’t be a pet owner. There is nothing wrong with that. They definately aren’t for everyone. HOWEVER, once you make the decision to get the animal, you should have the responsibility and respect to make sure that it is taken care of for its entire life.
